  1. CLIPS311 is CLIPS v.3.11 (dated July 25, 1990).  The CLIPS is a tool or
  2. shell for developing expert systems. It is a forward chaining rule-based
  3. language using the Rete algorithm. CLIPS was designed to allow expert
  4. system development and delivery on conventional computers.  The primary
  5. design goals were portability, efficiency and functionality. To meet these
  6. goals, CLIPS is written in and fully integrated with the C language.
  7. Future versions of CLIPS may be provided in other languages. An Ada
  8. version is currently under development.  CLIPS was developed by the
  9. Artificial Intelligence Section of the Mission Planning and Analysis
  10. Division at NASA/Johnson Space Center.
